Loblolly was founded as a private club by several young couples from Chicago and Philadelphia who shared a passion for sports and a warm climate. Together, they decided to create a private retreat in Hobe Sound, Florida where they and their children could relax, stay warm and play the sports they loved. Their first step was to establish the Loblolly Bay Yacht Club where they could enjoy boating, swimming, sport fishing, tennis and beach access. As word of Loblolly's appeal spread through many northern cities, friends - and friends of friends - arrived to join the Club. Their enthusiasm for golf led to the opening of the Loblolly Pines Golf Club, just across the street. The two clubs were then merged to create the 275-member-owned Club that we choose to call Loblolly.
Because the original clubs were established as separate entities, at separate times, Loblolly's members enjoy amenities unusual in scope for a club of its size. They include an exceptional 18-hole golf course, a private deep-water marina, 10 Har-Tru tennis courts, swimming pools for adults and children, a well-equipped fitness center, a full service spa, multiple dining facilities and access to a secluded beach on the north end of Jupiter Island. |
